Personalia

 

 Swami  Atmasthanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, was admitted to Seva Pratisthan hospital in Kolkata on 8 June for the treatment of cardiac irregularities.  He was fitted with a pacemaker on 10 June and discharged on the 18th.  He is keeping well at Belur Math and is scheduled to visit Narendrapur, Kolkata, from 27 July to 5 August.

 Swami Gitanandaji, Vice-President, will be visiting Navadwip and Krishnanagar from 20 to 28 July.  He is keeping well. 

 Swami Smarananandaji, Vice-President, is scheduled to return to Belur Math on 2 July after his tour of Cooch Behar, Mekhliganj, Bilasipara and New Bongaigaon.  He will be visiting Cossipore, Kolkata, from 8 to 11 July and Indore, Omkareshwar, Bhopal and Jabalpur from 18 to 31 July.  He is in good health.

   Swami Prameyanandaji, Vice-President, is scheduled to return to Belur Math on 5 July after his tour of Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunji and Shella.  He will be visiting Ichapur and Gourhati on 9 and 10 July, Baghbazar, Kolkata, from 16 to 21 July and Agartala from 28 July to 11 August.  He is keeping well.

   Swami  Atmasthanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, inaugurated the newly renovated Pallimangal building at Belur Math on 7 June.

 

News of Branch Centres : INDIA

Chennai Math conducted a three-day All Tamil Nadu Youth Retreat from 4 to 6 June in which 200 young men participated.


Coimbatore Mission centre organized at its indoor stadium the 42nd Junior (Men) National Boxing Championship in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Boxing Association under the aegis of Indian Boxing Federation from 2 to 7 June.  In all, 251 boxers from 33 teams (32 states and 1 service team) participated in the event.

Swami Smarananandaji, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, unveiled a 6½-foot statue of Swamiji at the Mekhliganj sub-centre of Cooch Behar Ashrama on 14 June.

Swami Prabhanandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, inaugurated the diabetic retinopathy wing of Sarada Netralaya at Patna centre on 16 June.

The newly built extension to the Matriculation Higher Secondary School building of Chennai Mission Ashrama was inaugurated on 18 June.


 

Swami Prabhanandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, inaugurated the mobile medical unit of Muzaffarpur centre on 19 June. 

  Vadodara centre felicitated 111 brilliant students of Gujarat on 21 June in the presence of several dignitaries, teachers, students and parents.  Sri P N Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India, presided over the function.

   Guwahati centre conducted a medical camp during Ambuvachi Mela at Kamakhya Dham from 22 to 25 June in which 3611 patients were treated. 

   As a part of the tenth anniversary of its Kannada monthly Vivek Prabha, Mysore Ashrama organized a seminar on 28 June on Significance of Spiritual Journalism in which more than 400 devotees and journalists participated.


Saradapitha, Belur, organized a ten-day residential Leadership Camp for rural youths at Jujursha village in May in which 80 students from several villages participated.

   The following centres conducted summer camps for children. The programme included chanting, bhajans, moral lessons, meditation, yogasanas, etc.

    In all, 42 students of Chennai Students’ Home school appeared in the High School examination conducted by Tamil Nadu Board this year; 28 of them secured A+ grade (80% or above in the aggregate) and the remaining 14 students secured A grade (60 to 79% in the aggregate).

    Students of the Polytechnic College of Chennai Students’ Home achieved the following results in the final examinations held by Tamil Nadu Board this year:

    Viveknagar (Tripura) Vidyalaya has received the Best School Award for the year 2008-09 on the basis of the performance of its students in Junior Talent Search Test conducted by Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search, Kolkata.

   Three students of Viveknagar Vidyalaya have won Dasharath Deb Memorial Award, 2009 (cash award of Rs. 5000/- each) for their excellent performance in AISS (Class X) Examination, 2008.

 Swami Jyotirupanandaji, head of Moscow (Russia) centre, reached Delhi on 27 June on an eight-week visit to India.
