We are sorry to announce
the passing away of Swami Sarvagatanandaji (Narayan
Maharaj) on 3 May at 5.30 am local time (3 pm IST) at
Boston (USA) centre. He was 96 and had been suffering
from old-age ailments for some years. The end came
peacefully. An initiated disciple of Swami
Akhandanandaji (a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna), he
joined the Order at Kankhal Sevashrama in 1935 and had
Sannyasa from Swami Virajanandaji in 1944. He served at
Kankhal centre for eight years and Karachi (formerly our
branch centre) for five years. He was the head of
Vishakhapatnam centre for six years. In 1954 he was
sent to USA as Assistant Minister of Boston and
Providence centres. He became the head of these centres
in 1962, and continued in that position until 2001
(Providence) and 2002 (Boston). Thereafter he had been
living a retired life at the Boston centre and continued
to meet the devotees and guide them. His untiring
service to Vedanta work in Boston and Providence, his
unbounded love for devotees and, above all, his sterling
spiritual life were a source of inspiration to all.
