Started in 1905 by Swami Ramakrishnananda, a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, the Home was made a branch centre of the Mission in 1918. The centre provides free board, lodging and education to orphan/destitute children.

Activities:

  1. A residential secondary school (class 6 to 10).
  2. A residential polytechnic college providing three-year diploma courses in mechanical, automobile, and computer engineering.
  3. A primary school (class 1 to 5).
  4. Two coaching centres in slum areas and six coaching centres in villages.
  5. A computer training centre offering courses in Tally software accounting.
  6. A mobile robotics lab which trained students of government and government-aided schools in and around Chennai.
  7. A vocational training centre for teachers and trainers of polytechnic colleges.
  8. Thirty-seven general medical camps in rural areas.
  9. Extracurricular activities: Participation by students in NSS, Scout, Student Police, and Junior Red Cross; state and national level seminars in mechanical, computer and automobile engineering; literary, sports and games, and other competitions. Special coaching in soft skills, aptitude, and technical training in related fields was provided for the students.
  10. Religious and other activities: Religious classes, daily morning and evening worship & prayers, celebration of major religious festivals, and the birthdays of divine personages.
