Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore

The centre was started in 1930 and made a branch of the Mission in 1934. It is a comprehensive educational institution, spread over an extensive 280-acre campus on the Coimbatore-Ootacamund Road, 19 km from the city.
Activities:

1. A senior basic school (nursery to class 8), including differently abled children.
2. A residential secondary school (class 6 to 10).
3. A higher secondary school (class 6 to 12).
4. A primary school (KG to class 5).
5. Institute of Agricultural and Rural Development: Offers a two-year diploma course. Training is imparted in horticulture, nursery, gardening, composting, animal husbandry, dairy, farm maintenance and rural development activities.
6. An autonomous polytechnic college: Offers diploma courses in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering, and information technology.
7. Industrial Training Institute: Offers two-year NCVT-approved courses in fitter, turner, draughtsman (mechanical/civil), mechanic (motor vehicle), wireman, machinist, electrician, electronics mechanic, motor driving, and a one-year course on welding and plumbing.
8. Residential autonomous teachers’ training college: Offers BEd, MEd, MPhil and PhD courses. The attached research department conducts educational research and publishes a quarterly journal. It also has an IGNOU study centre for distance BEd and MEd courses. The college also runs a tuition centre for rural children.
9. Autonomous College of Arts and Science: Offers 12 UG, 5 PG, 12 MPhil and 11 PhD programmes under grant-in-aid and 8 UG, 1 PG under self-financed stream. Offers bachelor’s degrees in vocational education through its DDU-KAUSHAL centre.
10. Autonomous Maruthi College of Physical Education: Offers BPES, BPEd, MPEd, and PhD programmes and is equipped with sports sciences laboratories.

12. Disabled Trainees’ Vocational Production and Rehabilitation Centre: Supplies notebooks and provides employment to economically backward and differently abled people.
