Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Society, Jamshedpur

Vivekananda Society, Jamshedpur, was started in 1920. It was made a branch of the Mission in 1927 and renamed ‘Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Society’.

Activities:

• A higher secondary school (nursery to class 12).
• Five high schools (class 7 to 10).
• Four English-medium high schools.
• Five middle schools (four schools from KG to class 6, and one from KG to class 8).
• An upper primary school (class 1 to 5).
  
• Vocational training: Provided training in computer applications to rural youths.
• IGNOU study centre: Offered BCA and MCA courses tostudents.
• A coaching centre.
• A students’ home for boys mostly from rural, backward and tribal communities.
• A public library.
• Three homeopathic dispensaries in remote villages of East Singhbhum district.
• A mobile medical unit, eye camps, and a blood donation camp.
• Religious activities: Daily worship, Ramnam Sankirtan on Ekadashi days, Shyamnam Sankirtan on Purnima days, religious lectures, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio and major religious festivals.
• Welfare activities: Providing food, pecuniary aid and educational assistance.
