Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kothar

It is situated at the house of Sri Balaram Basu, a chief lay disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi stayed here for 66 days (from 5 December 1910 to 8 February 1911). This sacred house was maintained by Shree Maa Sarada Devi Smruty Samity since 1997 and handed it over to the Ramakrishna Mission in 2012.

Activities:

1. A coaching centre for underprivileged students who were also provided with milk and refreshments.

2. Two units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.

3. A dispensary.

4. Regular worship, religious discourses, occasional lectures, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio, Agamani Utsav, and Annapurna Puja.

5. Welfare work by way of providing clothes, winter garments, pecuniary help to widows, medical and educational assistance.
