Ramakrishna Mission, Malliankaranai

The ashrama with 186 acres of land was started in 1932 as a sub-centre of Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home, Chennai, and made a full-fledged centre in 2000.

Activities:

1. A higher secondary school (class 6 to 12).

2. An elementary school (class 1 to 5).

3. A hostel for high school boys.

4. Two coaching centres (one at the ashrama and another at Kadalmangalam village).

5. A dispensary.

6. Paddy cultivation (in 20 acres), an orchard (having mango, sapota, coconut, and tamarind trees), and a dairy.

7. Welfare activities: Providing food, clothes, hygiene kits, educational kits, and pecuniary, medical, and educational assistance.

8. Religious activities: Ramnam Sankirtan on Ekadashi days, religious lectures, celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio, and other religious festivals.
