Ramakrishna Mission Saradapitha, Belur

Founded in 1941, this centre, located adjacent to Belur Math, runs several educational institutions.

Activities

1. Vidyamandira

• A residential autonomous college of arts and science, offering undergraduate honours courses in arts & science, as well as postgraduate and PhD courses in Sanskrit, Bengali, Mathematics, Philosophy, and Applied Chemistry.

• Added a second campus at the historic ‘Bose House’, Rishra, offering cultural and academic courses.

2. Sikshanamandira

• An autonomous residential college of teacher education, offering BEd, MEd, MPhil, PhD, and postgraduate diploma courses.

3. Shilpamandira

• An AICTE-approved self-financed polytechnic offering diploma courses in civil, mechanical, electrical, and electronics & telecommunication engineering.

• A community training centre providing short-term courses in trades such as welding, automobile mechanics, and electrical wiring.

• A computer centre offering courses in financial accounting, AutoCAD, and multimedia.

4. Shilpavidyalaya

• A private Industrial Training Institute offering NCVET-affiliated trades such as Draughtsman, Electronics Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Welder, and WBSCTVESD-affiliated Higher Secondary courses in computer maintenance, networking, and electrical installation.

• Short-term courses in Programmable Logic Controllers.

5. Samaj Sevak Sikshan Mandir

• A residential agro-based training institute functioning as a Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI), offering Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programmes and other training programmes in collaboration with banks and NABARD.

6. Janasikshamandira

• Educational programmes for backward classes in several districts, including vocational training, non-formal education centres, adult education, coaching centres, and a library.

• Eye camps.

• Village-level workers’ training centres for youth leadership.

7. Publication Department

• Publication of titles in Bengali and English.

8. Production Department

• Training unemployed youths in trades such as photo binding and incense stick making.

9. Tattwamandira

• A unit of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP) in Paschim Medinipur.

• Welfare activities providing clothes and pecuniary aid.

10. Multimedia Exhibition

• Exhibition on Swami Vivekananda.
