Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sarisha

Founded in 1921, this ashrama has reconstructed Sarisha village, mainly by providing education to villagers.

Activities:

1. A boys’ higher secondary school (class 5 to 12) and a hostel for boys.

2. A girls’ higher secondary school (class 5 to 12) and a hostel for girls. The school has a technical section that offers tailoring training for girls.

3. Four junior basic schools (pre-primary to class 4).

4. Two Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes (PTTI) for women.

5. A coaching centre for students.

6. Two units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa and a unit of Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa.

7. Two public libraries with a large collection of books.

8. Eight values education centres.

9. Vocational training in handicraft, computer basics, spoken English, mushroom cultivation, dairy, and more.

10. A homeopathic dispensary and two medical camps.

11. A health awareness camp.

12. A community centre for women.

13. A study circle.

14. Welfare activities: Providing food, clothes, educational kits, and pecuniary and educational aid.

15. Religious activities: Daily worship, religious discourses, spiritual retreats, and celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and major religious festivals.
