Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Tamluk

Ramakrishna Sevashrama was founded in Tamluk in 1914. It moved to its new premises in 1921. A part of the Sevashrama was taken over by the Ramakrishna Math in 1924, and the remaining part was formed into a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission in 1929. The two branches are since then known as ‘Ramakrishna Math’ and ‘Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama’.

Activities of the Math centre:

1. A study circle.
2. Welfare work: Providing clothes, blankets, and pecuniary, medical & educational aid.

Activities of the Mission centre:

1. A primary school (class 1 to 5).

2. A computer training centre.

3. A coaching centre for students.

4. A public library.

5. A vocational training centre offering courses in tailoring and spoken English.

6. A unit of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa for underprivileged children.

7. An allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary in Tamluk and a homeopathic dispensary in Tikarampur, 10 km away from the main campus.

8. Welfare activities: Providing educational aid.
