Covid-19 Outbreak - Relief Activities

  In the wake of the lockdown owing to the global pandemic caused by the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) there has been a severe disruption in normal day to day activities. The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission have initiated relief services in different parts of the country and abroad to meet the pressing need of the afflicted, specially the poor and needy, through a number of its branch centres. The Headquarters and many other centres conducted awareness campaign through putting up display boards, posters and distribution of leaflets. Pune and Kozhikode centres are providing temporary shelter and cooked food to stranded labourers from different states inside their campus. Face masks, hand sanitizers and soaps are being distributed by Saradapitha, Baranagar Mission, Darjeeling, Ranchi-Morabadi, Limbdi, Kothar, Vijayawada and Chennai (T. Nagar) in 6 states. Packed dry food items like rice, dal, salt, cooking oil, biscuits, etc. are being distributed by Baghbazar (Mayerbari), Saradapitha (Belur), Darjeeling, Ramharipur, Jhargram, Rishikesh and Cherrapunji (Sohra). Cooked food is being distributed by Delhi, Coimbatore Math and Vrindaban centres. Many more centres have informed that they are going to start relief-work very soon. As such, steps are being taken to extend the relief activities further. In this connection, it may specially be noted that our centre at Cherrapunji (Sohra) of Meghalaya has undertaken the responsibilities of rendering relief-services all over the state. Isolation wings are also being set-up at our hospital centres in Ranchi, Varanasi, Vrindaban, Ponnampet, Seva Pratisthan (Kolkata), Kankhal (Haridwar) and Thiruvananthapuram with the help of the respective state governments. Revered President Maharaj's Message 

Dear Children of the Lord,

All over the world millions of people are now living in great fear and anxiety, haunted by the spectre of COVID – 19 (Corona Virus Disease of 2019).  Although only about 300 cases have been detected in India so far, Indians have to be extra careful in view of the dense population of the country. Government agencies are taking stringent measures to contain the spread of the disease. The General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission has issued a set of directives which all our monastic and lay brothers and sisters should strictly adhere to.

The whole humanity is now facing a critical situation which may last a few more days. In the lives and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, we have adequate resources to enable us to face this global crisis. By Their grace we will certainly overcome this psycho-physical and social crisis. If we have this faith firmly rooted in our hearts, we have nothing to fear.

We have a higher spiritual goal to attain. Obstacles, individual and collective, are bound to occur on the path of the attainment of our ultimate Goal. But by the grace of the Almighty we will all certainly overcome the crisis and attain the Goal. Let us stop not till that Goal is reached!

পূজ্যপাদ প্রেসিডেন্ট মহারাজজীর আশীর্বাদী বার্তা

শ্রীভগবানের প্রিয় সন্তানগণ,

সারা বিশ্ব জুড়ে আজ কয়েক লক্ষ মানুষ করোনা ভাইরাস জনিত মারাত্মক ব্যাধিটির (COVID ‑19) প্রকোপের ফলে প্রবল ভয় এবং উদ্বেগের মধ্যে দিন কাটাচ্ছে। ভারতে এখনও পর্যন্ত প্রায় ৩০০ জন এই রোগে আক্রান্ত বলে সনাক্ত করা হয়েছে। কিন্তু আমাদের দেশের ঘন জনসংখ্যার কথা মাথায় রেখে ভারতীয়দের অতিরিক্ত সতর্কতা অবলম্বন করতে হবে। সরকারি সংস্থাগুলি এই রোগের বিস্তার নিয়ন্ত্রণ করার জন্য নানা কঠোর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করছে। রামকৃষ্ণ মঠ ও রামকৃষ্ণ মিশনের সাধারণ সম্পাদক মহারাজও  আমাদের সাধু-ব্রহ্মচারী এবং গৃহী ভক্তদের জন্য একগুচ্ছ অবশ্য পালনীয় নির্দেশিকা জারি করেছেন।

এই ব্যাধির কারণে আজ সমগ্র মানবসভ্যতাই যে সঙ্কটাপন্ন পরিস্থিতির মুখোমুখি হয়েছে তা হয়তো আরও কিছু দিন স্থায়ী হতে পারে। কিন্তু আমরা মনে করি, শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণদেব, শ্রীমা সারদাদেবী এবং স্বামী বিবেকানন্দের জীবন ও বাণীর মধ্যে এই বিশ্বব্যাপী সঙ্কটকে মোকাবিলা করার পর্যাপ্ত রসদ রয়েছে। তাঁদের কৃপায় আমরা অবশ্যই এই শারীরিক, মানসিক এবং সামাজিক সঙ্কটকে কাটিয়ে উঠতে পারব এবং এই বিশ্বাস যদি আমাদের অন্তরে দৃঢ়ভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত থাকে, তবে আমাদের ভয়ের কিছু নেই।

শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণদেব এবং অন্যান্য মহাপুরুষগণ বলে গেছেন, আমাদের সামনে একটি উচ্চতর আধ্যাত্মিক লক্ষ্য রয়েছে। সেটি অর্জন করাই মানুষের জীবনের পরম লক্ষ্য। সেই পরম লক্ষ্য প্রাপ্তির পথে মানুষের ব্যক্তিগত ও সমষ্টিগত জীবনে মাঝে মাঝে এই ধরণের বাধা-বিঘ্ন উপস্থিত হয়েই থাকে। কিন্তু সর্বশক্তিমান ভগবানের অনুগ্রহে আমরা সকলেই সেই বাধাগুলিকে অতিক্রম করে পরম লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছতে পারব। সেই লক্ষ্যে না পৌঁছানো পর্যন্ত আমারা যেন থেমে না যাই।

সকলের কল্যাণের জন্য আন্তরিক প্রার্থনা জানাই।

In the wake of global outbreak of coronavirus, the following measures are taken at Belur Math to stop the spread of the virus:
  1. Devotees will not be allowed to sit inside or gather in large numbers inside Sri Ramakrishna Temple; they may offer pranams to Sri Ramakrishna and come out quickly.
  2. During the evening Arati (vesper service), the devotees will not be allowed inside the temple. They may watch the Arati on the giant LED screens installed on the campus.
  3. Distribution of noon-prasad for devotees has been discontinued, until further notice.
  4. Darshan (Pranam) of Revered President Maharaj has been suspended until further notice.
  5. No Mantra-Diksha (spiritual initiation) will be held at Belur Math until further notice. All enquiries regarding Mantra Diksha will be entertained after 14 April 2020.
  6. Ramakrishna Sangraha Mandir (Museum) will remain closed until further notice.
  7. All scheduled programmes at the Cultural Hall has been suspended until further notice.
  8. The general advisory for public safety issued by the Government has been displayed in a number of places on the Belur Math premises.  The advisory may please be followed.

Employees of the Headquarters and/or branches of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math who were members of RKM Provident Fund, Belur Math and who ceased to be in employment for a period of 120 months or more are hereby notified to register claim on ‘Unclaimed’ Balances in his/her Provident Fund account. The concerned employee(s) or his/her legitimate claimant(s) are requested to submit claim form with all necessary documents/evidence in support of the claim to the respective branch centre(s)/Headquarters, where the person(s) was/were employed, for onward submission to us within 60 days of publication of this notice. Failing which, the ‘Unclaimed Balance’ shall be transferred to an Employees Welfare Fund which shall be utilized for the welfare of the employees of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. Display of this notice in the official Website of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math shall be deemed to be due intimation served as per statutory provisions. For more details, concerned employee(s)/ legitimate claimant(s) may contact nearest branch of Ramakrishna Math / Ramakrishna Mission.

Date : 9 April 2018 We are sorry to announce the passing away of Swami Putananda ji (Kalipada Maharaj), Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math (Balaram Mandir), Kolkata, on 9 April 2018 at about 5.35 pm at Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan, Kolkata. He was 92 and had been suffering from liver cancer for the last few months. His mortal body will be kept tonight at Balaram Mandir centre. Cremation will be held at Belur Math on 10 April at 12 noon.

Swami Sarvasukhananda (alias Tilak), a monk of Ramakrishna Math, Belur, is hereby informed that a Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of Ramakrishna Math has been called on Friday, 16 March 2018, at 10 am at President Maharaj's Quarters in Belur Math to discuss his conduct. He is hereby directed to attend the meeting on the above date at the stipulated time and explain his conduct. In default of his appearance on the above-mentioned day, the case will be heard and determined in his absence. Date: 22.2.2018
