Ramakrishna Ashrama and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Dehradun (Kishanpur)

The ashrama was started in 1916 and was made a branch of the Ramakrishna Math in 1919.
Activities of the Math centre:

1. A public library with books and periodicals.
2. Religious activities: Daily worship, Ramnam Sankirtan on Ekadashi days, spiritual discourses, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio and other spiritual luminaries and major religious festivals.
3. Welfare activities: Distribution of food in nearby slum areas.

The Mission centre was started in 1974.
Activities of the Mission centre:

1. An eye hospital (including 3 vision centres) which treated inpatients and outpatients. It also conducted eye camps in which people were treated.
2. A homeopathic-cum-allopathic dispensary.
3. Five units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa and two units of Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
4. Welfare activities: Providing ration kits, clothes and winter garments.
