Ramakrishna Ashrama and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Dehradun (Kishanpur)

The ashrama was started in 1916 and was made a branch of the Ramakrishna Math in 1919.

Activities of the Math centre:

  1. A library and reading room with 17,830 books and 33 periodicals and newspapers.
  2. Daily worship, weekly discourses in and outside the ashrama, celebration of Janmashtami, Durga Puja, Kali Puja, etc and observance of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other spiritual luminaries.

The Mission centre was started in 1974.

Activities of the Mission centre:

  1. A homeopathic-cum-allopathic dispensary.
  2. An eye hospital.
  3. A mobile medical unit.
  4. Five units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
  5. A study circle.
  6. Workshops, conventions and seminars on values education and personality development.
  7. Welfare work by way of providing food supplements, medicines, medical consultancy to mothers-to-be and lactating mothers.
