Ramakrishna Ashrama and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Dehradun (Kishanpur)

The ashrama was started in 1916 and was made a branch of the Ramakrishna Math in 1919.

Activities of the Math centre:

  • A public library.
  • Religious activities: Daily worship, Ramnam Sankirtan on Ekadashi days, spiritual discourses, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio and other spiritual luminaries and major religious festivals.
  • Welfare activities: Distribution of food in nearby slum areas.

The Mission centre was started in 1974.

Activities of the Mission centre:

  • An eye hospital (including 2 vision centres) & eye camps.
  • A homeopathic-cum-allopathic dispensary.
  • Five units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa and 2 units of Vivekananda Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
  • Welfare activities: Providing ration kits, clothes and winter garments.
