Ramakrishna Ashrama and Ramakrishna Mission, Dinajpur

The Ashrama was started in 1923 and made a branch of the Ramakrishna Math a few years later.

Activities of the Math centre:

  • A students’ home.
  • A library.
  • Ashrama has published 26 books.
  • A computer training centre.
  • An allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary and two mobile medical units.
  • Vivekananda-Siksha-O-Sanskrita-Parishad, a cultural centre for students.
  • Daily worship, bhajans, fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, weekly religious classes, spiritual retreats and occasional discourses.
  • Celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and major religious festivals.
  • Provided scholarships.

The Mission centre was started in 1942 but had to be closed in 1964. It was started again in 1990.

Activities of the Mission centre:

  • Two primary schools.
  • Under Grameen Shiksha Prakalpa, 80 coaching centres were helped to conduct their activities, which benefited 2051 primary school students.
  • Welfare work by way of giving food, clothing, blankets, winter garments and pecuniary help.
