The centre, started in 1936, was affiliated to the Ramakrishna Mission in 2007. An affiliate of the Ramakrishna Math, under the name Ramakrishna Ashrama, was started there in March 2013.
Activities of the Math centre:
- Daily worship, prayers and bhajans, weekly religious classes, and occasional discourses in the ashrama and elsewhere.
- Celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio and major religious festivals.
Activities of the Mission centre:
- An orphanage, and a students’ home.
- A dispensary.
- A library.
- Welfare activities: Providing food, clothes and pecuniary and educational aid.
