Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Medinipur

Ramakrishna Sevashrama was founded in 1914. It was taken over by the Mission and renamed Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama in 1931. After some years, it was renamed Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama.

Activities:

1. A higher secondary school (class 5 to 12).

2. A junior basic school (class 1 to 4).

3. A hostel for boys.

4. Six non-formal education centres in rural and urban areas.

5. An allopathic dispensary.

6. Two homeopathic dispensaries at Bhadrakali and Barkola villages.

7. A mobile medical unit.

8. Welfare activities: Providing pecuniary, medical, and educational aid.

The Math centre was started in 1986.

Activities:

1. A public library with 3054 books and 10 periodicals.

2. Religious activities: Daily worship, regular religious discourses, Bhakta sammelans, and celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and other festivals.

3. Welfare activities: Providing medical and pecuniary aid.
