Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Medinipur

Ramakrishna Sevashrama was founded in 1914. It was taken over by the Mission and renamed Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama in 1931. After some years, it was renamed Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama.

Activities of the Mission centre:

  • A higher secondary school (class 5 to 12).
  • A junior basic school (class 1 to 4).
  • A students’ home.
  •  Non-formal education centres.
  • A dispensary.
  • Two homeopathic dispensaries at Bhadrakali and Barkola villages.
  • Medical camps in rural and tribal places.
  • Welfare activities: Providing pecuniary, medical and educational aid.

The Math centre was started in 1986.

Activities of the Math centre:

  • A public library.
  • Religious activities: Daily worship, regular religious discourses, occasional spiritual retreats, and celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and major festivals.
  • Welfare works by providing clothes to the needy.
