Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Contai

Ramakrishna Sevashrama was started in Contai city in 1913 and moved to its permanent and present location in 1923. The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission took over the Sevashrama in 1928.

Activities of the Math centre:

• Daily worship and fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan.
• Regular classes, spiritual retreats and lectures.
  
• Celebration   of the  birthdays of the Holy Trio and other major festivals.

Activities of the Mission centre:

• A rural allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary.
• Mobile dispensaries.
• A students’ home.
• A unit of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
• Coaching centres
• Vocational training centres with students are pursuing tailoring, beauty therapy and electrical appliance repair courses.
• A public library.
• Welfare activities: Providing scholarships to students.
