Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Kankhal

The Mission centre was founded in 1901 to provide medical care to ailing monks and pilgrims who visit this famous pilgrimage place.

Activities of Mission centre:

  • A 200-bed hospital with the departments of medicine, surgery, TB, gynaecology, paediatric, orthopaedic, ophthalmology, diabetes, ENT and physiotherapy, and diagnostic facilities such as X-ray,  ECG, USG, CT scan, and well-equipped pathology and microbiology laboratories. 
  • An outpatient department, including dentistry, physiotherapy, and ophthalmology.
  • A mobile medical unit which treated.
  • An eye camp and a general medical camp.
  • A diabetes clinic.
  • Welfare activities: Help was given to needy patients in the form of medical treatment, either fully free or at discounted rates and by providing blood, insulin, medicines, etc.

The Math centre was started in 1980.

Activities of Math centre:

  • Religious activities: Daily worship and bhajans and fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan.
  • Celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio, and major religious festivals.
