Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Sikra-Kulingram

‘Sri Ramakrishna Brahmananda Ashrama’ was started in 1958 at the birthplace of Swami Brahmananda in Sikra-Kulingram, West Bengal. He was a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna and the first President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. In 2002, the Ashrama was taken over by the Math and renamed ‘Ramakrishna Math’.

Activities of the Math centre:

  • Religious activities: Daily worship, fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan and religious classes.
  • Celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio, Swami Brahmananda and other religious festivals.
  • Welfare activities: Distribution of food and buttermilk.

The Mission centre was started in 1992.

Activities of the Mission centre:

  • An allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary, and a mobile medical unit.
  • Eye and medical camps.
  • Fourteen coaching centres at Sundarbans, and one at ashrama premises.
  • Six units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
  • A public library.
  • Welfare activities: Providing food, milk, hygiene kits, clothes, blankets, educational kits and pecuniary and medical aid.
