Ramakrishna Math, Antpur

Ramakrishna Premananda Ashrama, Antpur, located at the birthplace of Swami Premananda, a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, was started in 1965. In 1986, it was taken over by the Math and renamed ‘Ramakrishna Math’.

  • A study circle (Vivek Vahini).
  • A vocational training centre with courses in tailoring & General Duty Assistant.
  • An allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary with orthopaedic and eye departments.
  • A mobile medical unit.
  • Twenty-nine dental camps.
  • A public library and a book bank.
  • Welfare activities: Providing clothes, winter garments, and food items, drinking water, vans for self-employment and medical, educational and pecuniary aid.
  • Religious activities: Daily worship, regular religious classes and occasional spiritual retreats.
  • Celebration of major festivals and the birthdays of the Holy Trio  and Swami Premananda. On 24 December,  the centre celebrates at the very spot, the event of 1886 when Swami Vivekananda and eight of his brother-disciples took the vows of renunciation before a dhuni (sacred fire).
