Ramakrishna Math, Baghbazar

Started in 1899 and later moved to its present home in the year 1908, this centre is also known as Mother’s House since it served as the residence of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi whenever she visited Kolkata.
Activities:

1. Publication of books in Bengali. Total number of titles: 578.
2. Publication of the Bengali monthly Udbodhan (126^th year).
3. A public library with 10,730 books and 29 periodicals.
4. A dispensary, with a pathology centre and a physiotherapy department.
5. A mobile medical unit.
6. A coaching centre for students.
7. A skill development-cum-self-employment centre: Offered the following NSDC affiliated training courses (244 trainees in all):(a) Computer Data Entry Operator, (b) Field Technician – AC & other home appliances, (c) Phlebotomist, (d) General Duty Assistant, and (e) Sewing Machine Operator.
8. Welfare activities: Providing food, milk, clothes, winter garments, educational kits, and pecuniary, medical & educational assistance.
9. Celebration of the birthday of Swami Saradananda (a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna).
