Ramakrishna Math, Baghbazar

Started in 1899 and later moved to its present home in the year 1908, this centre is also known as Mother’s House since it served as the residence of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi whenever she visited Kolkata.
Activities:

1. Publication of books in Bengali: 10 new and 283 reprints during the year; total number of titles: 562.

2. Publication of the Bengali monthly Udbodhan (125th year with 53,613 subscribers).

3. A public library with 10,517 books and 27 periodicals.

4. A dispensary, with a pathology centre and a physiotherapy department.

5. A mobile medical unit.

6. A coaching centre with 30 students.

7. A skill development-cum-self-employment centre: Offered the following NSDC affiliated training courses:

   • Computer Data Entry Operator

   • Field Technician – AC & Other Home Appliances

   • Phlebotomist

   • General Duty Assistant

   • Sewing Machine Operator

8. Religious activities: Daily worship, Ramnam Sankirtan on Ekadashi days, scriptural classes, spiritual discourses and occasional spiritual retreats.

9. Celebration of major religious festivals and the birthdays of the Holy Trio, Swami Saradananda (a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna), and other religious luminaries.

10. Welfare activities: Providing food, milk, clothes, winter garments, educational kits, and pecuniary, medical & educational assistance.
