Ramakrishna Math, Baranagar

This centre stands on the very place where the monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna set up their first monastery in 1886 and lived there for a few years. In 1973 some devotees started here Baranagar Math Sanrakshan Samity which was taken over by the Ramakrishna Math in 2001. The centre is since then known as ‘Ramakrishna Math.’

Activities:

• An allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary.
• Two non-formal education centres.
• Welfare work: Daily distribution of milk; distribution of food,  clothes and blankets, and providing pecuniary, medical and educational assistance.
• Religious activities: Daily worship, regular religious discourses, occasional spiritual retreats, and celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and other religious festivals.
