Ramakrishna Shivananda Ashrama, Barasat, situated at the birthplace of Swami Shivananda, a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, was started in 1961. It was made a branch centre in 1985 and renamed ‘Ramakrishna Math’.
Activities:
- A homeopathy-cum-allopathy dispensary with physiotherapy, pathology, and X-ray sections.
- A mobile medical unit.
- A public library.
- Welfare activities: Distribution of clothes and winter garments.
- Religious activities: Daily worship, bhajans, religious discourses and classes, and occasional spiritual retreats.
- Celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and other religious personalities, and major religious festivals.
