Ramakrishna Math, Ramanathapuram (Ramnad)

The centre is situated on the site of erstwhile Shankara Vilasam bungalow in which Swami Vivekananda had stayed for three days in 1897 on his return from the West. ‘Vivekananda Ashramam’ was started there in 2007 and was taken over by Ramakrishna Math in 2016.


  1. Regular worship, arati, bhajans and fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, religious discourses and lectures in and outside the ashrama, retreats and competitions.
  2. Celebration of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other spiritual luminaries and Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Ramanathapuram.
  3. Free coaching to 75 students at Nagachi village.
  4. Welfare work by way of providing food and educational help to poor and meritorious students.
