Ramakrishna Math, Ramanathapuram (Ramnad)

‘Vivekananda Ashramam’ was started in 2007 on the site of the erstwhile Shankara Vilasam bungalow in which Swami Vivekananda had stayed for three days in 1897 on his return from the West. The Ashramam was taken over by Ramakrishna Math in 2016.

Activities:

  1. Welfare work by way of providing food and educational help to poor and meritorious students
  2. Regular worship, arati, bhajans and fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, religious discourses and lectures in and outside the ashrama, retreats and cultural competitions.
  3. Celebration of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other spiritual luminaries and Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Ramanathapuram.
  4. A coaching centre at Nagachi village (18 km from Ramanathapuram).
