Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Asansol

Started in 1926 elsewhere in Asansol, this branch centre shifted to its present site in 1997.

Activities:

• A secondary school with 688 boys.
• Two junior basic schools with 317 boys.
• A vocational training centre with 496 students.
• A students’ home with 107 boys.
• A library and a reading room with 8137 books and 23 periodicals and newspapers.
• A free coaching centre with 225 students.
• A charitable allopathic dispensary which treated 9915 patients, a free eye cataract examination camp (25 patients were operated) and a mobile medical unit (1101 patients were treated).
• Welfare work by way of providing milk to the needy, and pecuniary help etc to poor people and students.
• Religious activities: Daily worship, regular spiritual classes, occasional lectures, and observance of Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja and the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other religious luminaries.
