Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Asansol

Started in 1926 elsewhere in Asansol, this branch centre shifted to its present site in 1997.


  1. A secondary school with 671 boys.
  2. Two junior basic schools with 305 boys.
  3. A vocational training centre with 251 students.
  4. A students’ home with 117 boys.
  5. A library and a reading room with 8283 books and 29 periodicals and newspapers.
  6. A free coaching centre with 317 students.
  7. A unit of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa with 64 underprivileged students.
  8. A charitable allopathic-cum-homeopathic dispensary which treated 10,904 patients, and conducted a free eye camp (194 patients operated on for cataract).
  9. Welfare work by way of providing scholarships, medical help and pecuniary help to the needy.
  10. Religious activities: Daily worship, weekly spiritual classes, occasional lectures, and observance of Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja, Christmas Eve, and the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other religious luminaries.
