Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Sohra (Cherrapunjee)

This branch centre was started in 1931.

Activities:

1. Seven higher secondary schools (two from nursery to class 11, four from nursery to class 12, and one from class 4 to 12).

2. Fifteen secondary schools (fourteen from nursery to class 10 and one from nursery to class 9).

3. Thirteen middle schools (one has only class 6, four have class 6 & 7, and eight from class 6 to 8).

4. Fourteen lower primary schools (one with class 1 & 2, three from class 1 to 3, one from 1 to 4 and nine from class 1 to 5).

5. Fourteen Pre–nursery/KG preschools (one from Pre-nursery to KG, and thirteen from nursery to KG) .

6. A hostel.

7. A computer training centre.

8. Two technical schools for training in weaving and tailoring.

9. A 30-bed hospital

10. Two mobile medical units providing medical services in rural areas.

11. Two museums, depicting tribal culture of the north-eastern states.

12. Four milk feeding centres.

Shella sub-centre: Located 50 km away from Sohra, the ashrama was started in 1924.

Activities:

1. A higher secondary school (nursery to class 11).
2. Celebration of Durga Puja and Kali puja.

Sohbarpunjee Sub-centre:

Situated 18 km from Sohra, this sub-centre was started in 1928.

Activities:

1. A higher secondary school (nursery to class 12).
2. A hostel for tribal girls.
