Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kothar

The centre is situated at the house of Sri Balaram Basu, a chief lay disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi stayed here for 66 days (from 5 December 1910 to 8 February 1911). This  sacred house was maintained by Shree Maa Sarada Devi Smruty Samity since 1997 and was handed over to the Ramakrishna Mission in 2012.

Activities:

• A coaching centre with underprivileged students who were also provided with milk and refreshments.
• A dispensary.
• Regular worship, religious discourses, occasional lectures, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio, Agamani Utsav and Annapurna Puja.
• Welfare work by way of providing scholarships to students and pecuniary help to widows.
