Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Kothar

Situated at the house of Sri Balaram Basu, one of the chief lay disciples of Sri Ramakrishna, and sanctified by the stay of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi for 66 days (from 5 December 1910 to 8 February 1911), the Ashrama was maintained by Shree Maa Sarada Devi Smruty Samity since 1997.  It was handed over to the Ramakrishna Mission in August 2012.

Activities:

  1. A free coaching centre with 270 poor students who were also provided with refreshments, tuition fees, etc.
  2. A computer training centre with 50 students.
  3. Two units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa with 105 poor children.
  4. Regular worship, religious discourses, occasional lectures, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, Agamani utsav and Annapurna Puja.
  5. Welfare work by way of providing scholarships to 10 girl students and medical help to the needy.
