Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Puri

The ashrama was started in 1944.


  1. A students’ home for tribal students, who were provided free board, lodging and coaching facilities.
  2. A vocational training centre, which give training in typewriting, basic computer applications and in tailoring.
  3. Thirteen coaching centres.
  4. A library and a reading room (with a separate children’s section), having 27,575 books and 59 newspapers and periodicals.
  5. Five units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
  6. Annual competitions in elocution, drawing, etc. for students.
  7. A mobile medical unit and free medical camp on Ratha Yatra.
  8. Medical relief work and distribution of lemonade to pilgrims during the car festival (Ratha Yatra)  and  providing scholarship, clothing and stationery to poor students, blankets, pecuniary help to the needy, and weekly free ration to aged persons.
  9. Religious activities: Daily worship, fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, discourses, and celebration of the birth anniversaries of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other spiritual luminaries.
