Ramakrishna Mission, Village Borivali, near Lonavala, Taluka Maval, Dist. Pune, Maharashtra 412106, India

Ramakrishna Mission, Mumbai, started a rural development unit in 1974 at Sakwar, a village 86 km away from Mumbai. In 2023, the unit was upgraded to the status of a full-fledged branch.

Activities:

  1. A dispensary serving tribal people.

  2. Eight eye camps, 52 dental camps, and one blood donation camp.

  3. A vocational training centre offering training in automobile mechanic, carpentry, electrical wiring, tailoring, and welding.

  4. Values education programmes for students.

  5. Twelve agriculture demonstration camps for farmers.

Sub-Centre: Lonavala

Under the inspiration of Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj, a small ashrama was established in 2000 at a village near Lonavala, Maharashtra, to serve the local tribal community. Subsequently, the property was gifted to the Ramakrishna Mission in June 2025. The ashrama is officially recognised as a sub-centre in March 2026.
