Ramakrishna Mission Home of Service, Varanasi

The Home was started in 1900 and made a branch of the Mission in 1902.

Activities:

  1. A general hospital with 211 beds (154 free beds), having an operation-theatre-cum-surgical-block; 6401 admissions this year.
  2. An outpatient dispensary, with eye, ENT, dental, paediatric, gynaecology, neurology, physiotherapy and orthopaedic departments and a homeopathic 1,87,856 cases were treated this year.
  3. Four mobile medical units, which treated 27,154 patients.
  4. Two old-age homes, one with 35 men and the other with 46 women.
  5. Four units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa with 198 poor children.
  6. A mobile library with 2090 books which visits different schools.
  7. Four audio-visual units which conducted health and hygiene awareness programmes; screened 42 films in 41 schools and 66 villages; 6241 people attended the programmes.
  8. Welfare work: Pecuniary help amounting to Rs. 11.98 lakh was given to needy persons, and medicines worth Rs. 91.21 lakh was provided to the poor and afflicted patients.
