Ramakrishna Mission, Srinagar

A branch of the Ramakrishna Mission was started in Srinagar in 1954 but had to be closed down two years later. Subsequently, some devotees founded Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in the city. The Ashrama was registered as a society in 1971. The Ramakrishna Mission took over the Ashrama in 2008 and renamed it ‘Ramakrishna Mission’.

Activities:

1. A dispensary offering medical services to the local community.

2. Publication of books in Kashmiri and English.

3. Welfare activities: Provided pecuniary, educational and medical aid.

4. Religious activities: Daily worship and prayer, fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, and celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and other religious festivals.
