Ramakrishna Mission Swami Vivekananda’s Ancestral House and Cultural Centre, Kolkata

This branch of the Ramakrishna Mission was started at the birthplace and ancestral house of Swami Vivekananda in 2004.

Activities:

1. A school of languages providing courses in English, German, French, Spanish, Sanskrit, Bengali, and Hindi.

2. A computer education centre.

3. An Off-campus centre of RKMVERI, Belur, offering the following courses:
   i. 6-month certificate course in yoga.
   ii. Online certificate course in Communicative Sanskrit.

4. A research centre, an extension unit of the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara, providing courses in advanced Sanskrit composition, web development, soft skill training, manuscript editing, Lakshmi Sora painting, and business communication skills.

5. Eight coaching centres: One at the centre and others in 7 districts of West Bengal. The children were also given breakfast, books, and clothes.

6. Two units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.

7. Spoken English classes at Barrackpur, Kolkata.

8. Two cultural units.

9. A textbook library with 6756 books and 2 periodicals for school/college students.

10. Youth forums, cultural events, and values education classes.

11. A dispensary with allopathy, homeopathy, physiotherapy, and yoga departments. An eye camp.

12. A museum on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

13. A memorial shrine with two small meditation halls.

14. Regular religious classes, endowment lectures, seminars, conventions, etc.

15. Welfare activities: Provided ration kits, clothes, pecuniary aid, and educational assistance in rural and urban areas.
