Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jhargram

The Government of West Bengal started Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Jhargram in the year 2002 for the education of tribal communities. The Ramakrishna Mission was entrusted with the administration of the school in 2016. Subsequently, the school was renamed ‘Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (EMRS)’ and a branch of the Ramakrishna Mission has been functioning officially on the school campus since 2017.

Activities :

• A residential higher secondary school (class 6 to 12).
• Coaching centres.
• Two units of Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
• Cultural activities like study circles, children camps, yoga & meditation classes, value education programmes, conventions, competitions and seminars.
• A Rath Yatra that covered 1200 km in 8 days spreading the message of Swami Vivekananda among.
• Medical camps.
• A hygiene awareness camp.
• Plantation of tree saplings.
• Welfare work: Providing clothes, winter garments, educational kits, and pecuniary and educational assistance.
• Religious activities: Spiritual classes, retreats and celebration of the birth anniversaries of the Holy Trio and observance of major festivals and national holidays.
