This centre was started in 1946.

Activities:

  • Vivekananda College (Day College), a degree college for men, offers 11 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate courses.
  • Vivekananda College (Evening College), a degree college for men, offers 8 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate courses.
  • The day college had five units of NSS which undertook programmes such as Environmental Protection, Naan Mudhalvan Scheme, International Yoga Day, etc.
  • A Student hostel.
  • Vivekananda Institute of Tropical Mycology (VINSTROM), a research institute recognized by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is engaged mainly in studying the biodiversity and technological potential of micro fungi in forests and other environments.
  • Welfare Activities: Providing meals and educational assistance.
