Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center of New York, USA

Founded in 1933, this affiliate of the Ramakrishna Math has Swami Yuktatmananda as the Minister-in-charge.

Activities:

  • Sunday services and two weekday classes.
  • Special services on Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, Durga Puja day, and the birthdays of Buddha and the Holy Trio.
  • Publication of several books on the lives and teachings of the Holy Trio, and on the systems of Yoga and Vedanta, and a Monthly Announcement with an article by the Minister-in-charge. A few e- books were released.
  • A library with 1200 books and 10 periodicals, and a bookstore.

Vivekananda Cottage: This house at Thousand Island Park on St. Lawrence River, where Swami Vivekananda stayed and gave the Inspired Talks in 1895, serves as a summer retreat. A memorial, half a mile away from the cottage marks the spot where Swami Vivekananda sat in deep meditation on the final day of his stay in the Thousand Island Park.

Activities of Vivekananda Cottage:

  • Daily vespers, meditation sessions, scriptural classes, and a retreat programme were conducted in the summer.
