Vedanta Centre of Sydney

The centre was started in 1990 and affiliated to the Ramakrishna Math in 2000. Swami Sridharananda is its Minister-in-charge.

Activities:

  • Daily worship, evening arati, fortnightly Ramnam Sankirtan, singing of devotional songs and scriptural classes.
  • Celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio and major religious festivals.
  • An online bookstore.
  • Publication of Reach, a quarterly newsletter.
  • Counselling sessions.
  • Yoga classes and cultural programmes.

The Vedanta Society has five chapters or sub-centres.

  • Observance of International Yoga Day and Harmony Day
  • Counselling sessions.
  • Yoga classes, Hindi language classes, other regular and summer classes and special online lectures.
  • Nature walks.
  • Fairs with various stalls were held to attract the wider public to the ashrama.
  • Food bank providing free food and groceries to the needy, and a
  • cafeteria providing low-cost meals once a week.
  • A legal aid cell.
  • A bookstore.
