Vedanta Centre of Sydney, Australia

The centre was started in 1990 and made a branch of Ramakrishna Math in 2000. Swami Sridharananda is its minister-in-charge.

Activities:

  1. Daily worship, evening arati, fortnightly Ramnam sankirtan, and devotional singing.
  2. Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, and also other festivals.
  3. Weekly religious discourses, scriptural classes, chanting classes, yoga classes and cultural programmes.
  4. A library and a book showroom.
  5. Publication of a tri-annual magazine, Reach, containing information about the various activities of the centre and articles about Ramakrishna-Sarada-Vivekananda and Vedanta.
  6. Religious classes and lectures in universities and to the groups of devotees at Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth as also in other cities of Australia and in New Zealand.
  7. Individual counselling, interviews, etc and monthly career counselling programmes.
  8. Spiritual retreats and annual retreat programmes.
  9. A children’s programme on Saturdays.

The Vedanta Society has five chapters or sub-centres.

Vedanta Centre of Sydney – Adelaide Chapter

         Activities:

  • Daily worship, evening arati, religious classes and discourses.
  • Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda, and other festivals.
  • A book showroom.

Vedanta Centre of Sydney – Brisbane Chapter

         Activities:

  1. Cultural centres for children and teenagers.
  2. Yoga classes.
  3. Workshops, cultural classes (Bharatanatyam etc) and school holiday activities.
  4. A cafeteria and providing food to the poor.
  5. Legal aid cell.
  6. A book showroom.
  7. Invited by different organizations and colleges, the resident swami delivered several lectures in the neighbourhood and other cities of Australia and also participated in several interfaith meetings.
  8. Daily worship, chanting, evening arati, meditation and devotional songs.
  9. Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda and other religious luminaries and other festivals.

         Activities:

  1. Regular lectures and classes on scriptures.

         Activities:

  2. Satsangs, religious classes and discourses.

         Activities:
