Vedanta Society of Toronto, Canada

This centre was started in 1968 and affiliated to the Ramakrishna  Math in 1989. Swami Kripamayananda is its Minister-in-charge.

Activities:

  • Daily meditation and evening service, bhajans, Sunday lectures and weekly religious classes.
  • A monthly study circle in Greater Toronto Area, and lectures at various cities in Canada and the USA.
  • Interviews to students and spiritual seekers.
  • A library with a reading room, and a bookstore.
  • A retreat for devotees, and a seminar and a public-speaking competition for school children.
  • A bimonthly Sunday school for children.
  • Celebration of the birthdays of the Holy Trio, Sri Krishna, Buddha, and Christ, and other religious festivals.
  • Community involvement through observance of International Yoga Day and Senior Citizens’ Day.
  • A monthly vigil, consisting of japa, meditation and singing of Ramnam.
  • Publication of a monthly newsletter Vivekananda Review.
  • Welfare work by serving food to the homeless and needy.
