Vedanta Society of Western Washington, Seattle, USA

The Society was started in 1938. Swami Bhaskarananda is the President of this branch of Ramakrishna Math.

Activities:

  1. Daily worship, morning prayers, meditation, vesper services and weekly Ramnam Sankirtan, and devotional singing.
  2. Sunday services, scripture classes and vigils on special days.
  3. A Sunday school for children.
  4. Interviews to spiritual seekers.
  5. Talks in different colleges, schools and church groups at various places, and participation in interfaith meetings.
  6. Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and Christ, and also festivals like Shivaratri, Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
  7. A library, a reading room, a website, and a book showroom.
  8. Publication of Global Vedanta, a quarterly journal in English (22nd year), and some books on Vedanta.
  9. Monthly retreats at Tapovan, the Society’s retreat property near Arlington in Snohomish County.
