The ashrama was started in 2000 in the bungalow in which Swami Vivekananda had stayed for a few days in 1892.
Town Centre: In February 2007, Ramakrishna Mission took over Ramakrishna Vivekananda Sevashrama, Belgaum (popularly known as Bhate’s House where Swami Vivekananda stayed for 4 days in October 1892) and renamed it Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama.

Activities of the Mission centre :

  1. Computer training centre with 371 students.

  1. Personality development camps, lectures, residential retreat
    camps, annual competitions in eassy-writing, recitation, 
    elocution, etc for students.

  1. Balak Sangha and Yuvak Sangha for spreading moral, cultural
    and spiritual values among children and the youth.

  1. Monthly eye camps: 362 patients were operated on free of
    charges. Most of the operations were performed in the
    Ashrama’s eye clinic, Sarada Netralaya.

  1. Welfare work by way of providing scholarships and pecuniary help 
    to poor and meritorious students, milk and snacks to poor students,
    food and clothing to the needy, repairing houses of the poor etc.

  1. Religious activities: Daily worship, morning and evening bhajans,
    spiritual retreats, lectures, meditation classes and celebration of
    the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi,
    and Swami Vivekananda.



Activities of the City/Town/Sub centre :

  1. Sanskrit learning classes (41 students) for youths and Yogasana classes(54 students) as well.

  1. Welfare work by way of providing milk and snacks to poor children
    and distribution of notebooks, pens, etc to needy students.

  1. Religious activities like daily worship, weekly lectures and
    monthly satsangas (retreats).
