The ashrama was started in 1936 and made a branch centre in 1941.

Activities of the Math centre :

  1. A higher secondary school with 513 boys and 353 girls.

  1. A Sanskrit upper primary school with 286 boys and 153 girls.

  1. A junior basic school with 134 boys and 115 girls.

  1. A nursery school with 109 children.

  1. A crèche for 26 Harijan infants.

  1. A students’ home with 110 students of whom 94 were tribal boys.


    Five libraries attached to the schools had 9965 books and 12
    newspapers and periodicals. Besides, the public library with
    attached reading room had 10,126 books, and 28 periodicals 
    and dailies.
  1. A community centre for Harijans with a library for children
    (having 4766 books and 12 newspapers and periodicals).

  1. A computer training centre with 35 students.

  1. A typewriting training centre with 35 students.

  1. A sub-centre at Muvattupuzha (Sri Ramakrishna Ashram,
    Kizhakkekara, Muvattupuzha, Kerala 686 661).

  1. A publication department mainly for books in Malayalam.

  1. A free ayurvedic dispensary, which treated 61 cases this year.

  1. A homoeopathic dispensary, which treated 1278 cases.

  1. Daily worship, monthly retreats, occasional classes, and public
    lectures in and outside the ashrama premises.

  1. Celebration of the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother
    Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other prophets.
